LEADING BISCUIT MANUFACTURERS IN INDIA | BAKEMATE

Count the number of times you’ve reached out for a pack of biscuits to satiate your hunger, with a rupee for every time you did that, you’ll probably buy another carton of biscuit packets with the money you’ve gathered. It’s amazing how things that were first invented for something else turn out to be food items we cannot go a day without. For example, Coca Cola; it was made with the intention of using it as a stomach cure for upset stomachs and anxiety stomachs, people loved it so much, the company took notice and started packaging it and marketing it to suit the demands. It is, after all, the duty of the FMCG Brands to keep track of market trends and stick to them for better sales and turnover.

Let’s take a look at the manufacturers that have, by being wary of market trends, made a name for themselves, in the Biscuit Industry. Here’s a tentative list of all the leading Biscuit Manufacturers in India.

Parle Glucose biscuits by Parle Products Private Limited takes the crown for the most sold glucose biscuits in the World, volume-wise, in 2002 as per the US-based Bakery Manufacturer’s Association’s charts. That is a feat by itself, to achieve such heights of global exposure. What’s flattering is that Parle has managed to stay at the top of its game many years down the line with its most popular product, Parle-G, which is known worldwide as “The Glucose biscuit.” Although the company split into three different factions, they have found a way not to get in the way of one another and continued to flourish individually with Parle Products remaining in the top ten biscuits company in the world list.

Britannia Industries Limited, with its innumerable innovations and variations in biscuits, is one of the leading biscuit manufacturers in India and made it to the top 10 biscuits in India 2018. Varun Berry, the managing director of Britannia Industries shared with Khaleej Times that dedication to consumers and in-depth research on their needs are two factors that proved to have helped them achieve great heights of success. During the Gulfood 2019 exhibition, he also brought to everyone’s attention that the company has plans of expansion to a new geography every year and molding it into a global total foods company.

Talk about being a jack of all trades, that’s ITC for you. Redefining the figure of speech, it has mastered all the trades it has ever taken up. Although Sunfeast entered the game a little late compared to the other biscuit manufacturers, it has picked up the pace pretty quickly and reached the top with panache. It entered the branded Food Packaging Business in 2001 and launched into the biscuit brands segment in 2013 with the wide range of cream biscuits under the name Sunfeast and went on to launch their instant noodles called Sunfeast Yippee, followed by GumOn chewing gums, the dairy segment with Aashirvaad Svasti Ghee, the luxury chocolate business with Fabelle chocolates, coffee segment with its Sunbean Gourmet Coffee and so on and so forth. And all this is just their foods segment. Kudos to them for finding their footing in the food industry as well.
